I was watching all the coverage about Kim Kardashian and the robbery she endured, and I said to myself; "Why doesn't the media focus this much attention on all the men and women in our country's military who are laying their lives on the line so we can have the freedoms so often taken for granted!" Please do not get me wrong, I think that what happened to Mrs. Kardashian West is tragic, however, we have brave men and women in all branches of the United States military located in worn torn countries dying daily. Why doesn't this make the news like a tragic robbery or a celebrity divorce such as Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt? We as a Nation can not make our armed forces secondary in our thoughts and interest. Everyday we should pray for our Nations leaders and for those who help make and keep America free. When was the last time you prayed for the military or thanked a service person for their service?
I have taught my children that when they see a man or woman who is in the military, to thank them for their sacrifice. To me, it is part of being American, but even deeper than that, it is part of being humane, caring and grateful.
Come on America, lets not lose focus on what really matters to our country being great. Lets stop majoring in minor issues such as celebrity divorces, marriages, celebrity gossip, celebrity weight issues, etc. and start majoring in what and whom makes America safe, proud and free! The take away for today's blog is simply this; entertainment, sports, and celebrity news would not be possible if our nation did not have brave and selfless men and women sacrificing daily for us. The least we and the media could and should do is acknowledge our nations armed service men and women with daily prayers, thoughts and kind words of appreciation.
